“A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” Some may say that this hymn is the Lutheran Anthem, because it is written by Martin Luther -- the man whom after our denomination is named. I think it is a fitting song to share this week, as this coming weekend we celebrate the anniversary of the Reformation, when Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses as a statement against the corrupted Catholic Church of his time. Luther taught that salvation and subsequently eternity in heaven is not earned by good deeds but is received only as a free gift of Gods grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin and subsequently eternity in Hell. Truly radical for his time! Today, some 497 years later at Community Lutheran Church, we love radical, because we believe that the GRACE offered to us through Jesus Christ is radical! We are grateful for the movement that Martin Luther began, but we do not worship him. As we celebrate the Reformation this Sunday, we celebrate Jesus -- and the love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion & grace that we receive through Him! This is a recording of a somewhat modernized, somewhat soft spoken rendition of Martin Luther’s Hymn from long ago. I offer this today, in hopes of getting you excited about the special music worship services that we are going to offer at 9:30 & 11AM this Sunday. We are calling these services, THE POWER OF WORSHIP, because so many of us feel a direct connection to God, to Jesus, to the Spirit in hymns & worship music. This Sunday, please join us as we join in song, accompanied by a 19 piece orchestra! All the music offered in this worship service are pieces that were recommended by our members here at CLC! Please come join us, celebrating the Reformation -- but more importantly, celebrating the power of worship -- and the power of God’s LOVE & GRACE in our lives! - Bruce #InclusiveGod #RadicalGrace
