***A Very Special Dog Story*** ~ Here is Teddys story told through the notes of our Staff & Volunteers ~ JOURNAL ENTRIES: 09/16/14 Teddy, a 1Y 3M old Brown Pit Bull, arrived at the Camarillo Shelter as an Owner Surrender. Our Vet Hospital said he had large scars along his back, old wounds on his legs, neck, and face; and entropion [a painful eyelid condition]. 10/09/14 Teddy hung out in the office with me all day. He was a pancake for most of the day. But received a lot of attention. 10/14/14 Teddy hung out with me again for a few hours. Still very scared and shy but standing up more and walking around (even if it was walking away from me). Loves to be petted. Still wont walk on leash or take treats. Did lick peanut butter from Cassandras hand. 12/07/14 Teddy got his first bath at the shelter today and was calm and let us scrub him down. He was timid but super friendly. Doesnt walk on leash still, but after I carried him out to the pen, he was fun and adventurous. He is very friendly and did not appear dog aggressive. 12/10/14 - WENT TO A FOSTER FAMILY! :-) 12/13/14 Teddy was returned today from FOSTER care today. He was very destructive in the home when left alone. He shredded the drywall in the room where he was being housed while the family was gone. 12/13/14 Sarah Cope, an Animal Control Officers who fell head-over-heals for Teddy, took him home to FOSTER after she saw that he was returned. She worked with him at length after working all day at the shelter. She eventually got him acclimated to life in a home. 12/30/14 SURGERY DAY: Sarah brought Teddy back to the shelter to have his Entropion fixed (eyelid surgery). Our Veterinarian, Dr. Heather Skogerson, did a wonderful job repairing his eyelids. No more painful eyelashes scraping against his eyes. He can see clearly now. :) 01/20/15 Sarah brought Teddy to the shelter to participate in one of our many Play Groups. He learned how to interact and play nice with other dogs. A women named Beverly walked by and mentioned she was looking for dogs that were good with her own dogs at home. Immediately, Sarah mentioned Teddy because she knew he was good with her own dogs. 01/21/15 Beverly came back to the Adoption Center with her husband and her dogs to do a Meet-And-Greet. It apparently went very well because.......... 01/22/15 :) :) :) TEDDY GOT ADOPTED :) :) :) -------------------------------- When Teddy came to us in September, he was scared and scarred. He wouldnt even walk to you. He needed to be carried everywhere. He was shut down. Now he is a lap dog who leans on you and puts his head in the palms of your hands and closes his eyes. We see a lot at the shelter. From those cute little kittens who need a foster family, to the unfortunate animals who require immediate medical attention, and everything in between. Teddys story illustrates the reason that many shelter staff and volunteers continue to do the work they do each day to keep our current 226 dogs, 98 cats, 76 rabbits, 23 chickens & roosters, 2 sheep, 2 horses, and 1 Guinea Pig all healthy and safe. Teddy was just one of our 428 animal that we are currently caring for, but he was a blessing to us all! We wish him and his new family all the Love in the world. ~ Good Night ~ #AnimalShelter #AnimalStories #AShelterDog #ShelterDogs
