A few days ago I had the privilege of attending a Handout celebration. It has to have been one of the BEST days of my life. How I wish I could have audio recorded the elated shrills and squeaks of excitement as each class was allowed to open their boxes. I remember one of the older girls getting a particular dress and all she kept saying was “Yes, I finally have a dress like this. I have always wanted one. She began pulling it over the clothes she was wearing. One 7/8 year old received A Barbie type doll. She stared at it mesmerized for at least two whole minutes before she finally jumped up and said “ Look what I’ve got”. Another boy got Lego and asked me what it was. When I explained that he could build the toys on the box with it, he was so excited. The girls unpacked their pads onto the desk and for those that were wondering… No, they weren’t embarrassed and no boy even commented. One girl even looked enviously upon the three packs of pads her friend got. EVERY child regardless of age was so grateful and happy with what they got.
