.....A great deal has changed since John Dewey wrote those words. The “new” era of humanism is almost over. The optimism is fading. The empires are crumbling. The experiment is proving a failure. Now the 21st century man is thinking that Dewey and the rest of them may have miscalculated. This most spectacular experiment with apostasy and religious skepticism is now showing some cracks in the foundations— fissures eight feet wide. As the smoke clears, some still wonder. . .What if God does exist? What if John Dewey, the father of public education in America, had the wrong worldview? What if billions of people who were more informed by Darwin and Dewey than Moses and Paul have been led astray? What if the tiny remnant still holding on to 2,000 years of “the fixed and the final” are right? Are Dewey’s theories turning out to be cataclysmic miscalculations?
