******ABSOLUTELY GOBSMACKED***** And VERY HAPPY. I recommend any one and everyone to start adding coconut oil in to theirs and their pets diets. Jakey had stomatitis which is a very painful recurring gum infection. Basically gingivitis but on a severe note.. their whole jaw swells and their throats which makes it very painful for them to eat. Elwood has had it twice.. the first time I took him to the vets and they gave him a steroid, the second time I cleaned his gums with salt water and coconut oil. But I never really made the connection until with Jake. Jake is a much easier patient than Elwood, basically he wont try and scratch your eyes out.. so I was able to apply more coconut oil and force feed him more, which wasnt pleasant for either of us as I dont like to cause my animals pain. Long story short, I knew things were improving as there was a glimpse of the old jakey this morning.. but he still didnt eat this morning nor was he accepting of being force fed. I applied coconut oil to his front legs (as I had seen him licking- which again was a sign of improvemnet). Ive just got back from the horses and he came stumbling down the stairs. I prepared him a small meal with coconut oil and he lapped the lot up!!! The more I look into homoeopathy the more convinced that it should be more available for our pets. Ive been watching videos of a holistic vet by the name of Dr Becker and she talks complete sense. How we are slowly killing our pets with commercial feeds and regular trips to the vets to have all kinds of poisons injected. 50 years ago gum disease in cats was unheard of. But commercial feeds are laden with crap.. which are causing all kinds of illnesses including cancers. Cats and dogs are carnivores and should be fed accordingly, I would never dream of feeding my horses meat or a feed with fish oils in it, they are obligate vegans. Holistic vets do recommend a raw meat diet, that isnt something I can bring myself to do just yet based on my own values, (I know cat food is meat, its a psychological thing- dont ask :D) but I am feeding much higher quality food (and Im not talking Gourmet, thats crap too). I have researched into ready made raw which you can get.. In my cats later lives I want them to be the fittest and healthiest they can be! I dont want endless trips to the vets which are stressful for them and expensive and stressful for me. By the way, I have one cat with all her teeth, the rest are gummy bears, but the odd tooth they do have is causing the stomastitis to re-occur
