ACE COMMISSION RESPONSE: In the emails, Horwatt informed SMG General Manager Rebecca Bonnevier that her “black shirt Gestapo agent at the door insisted on my ID even though this was a meeting open to the public.” He goes on in subsequent messages to call Cupinski a “weak, little whiney girl” as he calls for her resignation “for the good of the community!!” That exchange prompted the board in July to call for Horwatt’s resignation, which he refused. Cupinski also filed a complaint with the county ACE Commission, but she said she has not yet received even an acknowledgement of its receipt. The board can’t wait for the commission to get around to dealing with it, she said. Calling people names and suggesting they stay home may be immature, but hardly rises to unethical behavior for folks raised in coal mining patch towns, that were pretty much cut off from the rest of the world.
