* ADOPTABLE! * Age: 13 months Gender: Male Breed: Shepherd X Husky mix Kids: Not tested, we recommend at least 12+ Cats: Maybe Dogs: Yes, but while supervised Micah is an 13mth old Husky x Shepherd. Micah was found many months ago on the west side of the island in very rough shape. After intensive vet treatment he is physically all better but emotionally Micah has a way to go. He loves the outdoors and is an avid hiker both on leash and off in pack hikes. This is where his true goofy personality shines. To run and play with his 4 legged friends, he is totally relaxed. Micah’s insecurities come out when meeting new people, men more so than women. He will bark excessively and try and hide. We have been working on methods of lessening this stress but it is a work in progress. It take patience and time to gain his trust. Pushing him into new situations too quick;y will set him back. Its has to be done slowly and with lots of repetitions. He will panic if cornered or placed in an enclosed space. Micah also does have moments when he is very excited that he forgets boundaries. It appears as uncertainty and he doesn’t know how to handle it. For this reason it is recommend he be an only dog or be with someone that understands how to work with his behaviour. Micah is currently fostered with dogs of all sizes and ages but is not left unsupervised. He loves his dog friends and should continue to interact with them on a frequent basis He does not live with cats and any he has come across he is indifferent to. Birds are a NO. Micah likes to offer you gifts of the birds he can catch.Micah is not crate trained. Being in a crate brings out his fears. He is fine left on his own in the house but would not recommend leaving him for 8+ hrs every day. He has been known to chew things but then he is still trying to catch up on being a puppy. Due to Micah’s issues, we recommend no children under 12. Over all Micah is an fun loving, intelligent boy. He needs a confident person, ideally someone that is around lots and can keep giving him the tools to feel more secure. It is strongly recommended he continue to work with a professional trainer.
