*** ALERT ... Your daily Good Morning message #500 *** On this Monday, the morning message is not the usual inspirational message you have come to know. It is a message to celebrate the 500th daily Good Morning message. Its been an honor and privilege to post messages of trust, bonding, friendship, and gratitude...messages that begin healing for many on this site. It is truly a Healing Ground. Weve had a lot of good times and sad. We laugh together, we cry together. No one is ever alone in this family...ever. When The Post Exchange was spun off from the main page the end of July, 2013, Marlan suggested I check it out. I had no idea why and wondered what my connection to Vietnam Veterans would be. On 05 August 2013, I walked thru the door and within five minutes I knew this was where I belonged. I came HOME. Four days later, I decided that I wanted to say hello to anyone...so, I posted my first message...just words, no photo, no music, just this: Gayle Lucas Vietnam Reflections T.T.E. - The Post Exchange August 9, 2013 Happy Friday to everyone!! Welcoming all the newcomers to an awesome page. In between all the messages, on 10 September 2013, Marlan asked me to be acting Admin. while he was away. Upon his return, I told Marlan that I would await my fire date. He told me, dont hold your breath. As you can see, Marlan and I have different meanings for acting as Im still Adming. Who would have thought a civvie Admin. on a Vietnam military site?!! Out of all the things weve been through, two stand out for me. One Saturday morning, I posted the MM and was chatting with four others on the thread. Next thing, Im getting messages and phone calls wanting to know if I was alright because I was late in posting the message. I finally figured out that I posted it to my page and the people I was chatting with were friends from our site. LOL. Does anyone remember our virtual Christmas Eve Party that lasted two days? Friendship, fun, food, music, a five-part midnight toast. We even played charades. That was a memorable night as we offered support to those who had a challenging time with the holiday and feeling alone. Ive been called many things in this family. Airman Lucas...Shepherd...Lighthouse...TOPS...Battle Buddy. First Lady...Princess of the PX. Brother...Sistah Gayle...my lady...nice lady...big sis...little sis. Drill Sergeant...Gunny...troop...grasshopper...ladybug...my dear. And, some not-so-nice names. Except for the latter, I am honored and touched. BUT...the best thing for me is being able to call you my friends, my Brothers and Sisters...and most important is being able to call those who served, my Veteran. With much love and respect to all our family members, Gayle.
