ANOTHER GREAT DAY AT THE HOMESTEAD: Today was one of those perfect sunny warm and windless winter days that do pop up throughout winter in Cape Town. It was however made even sweeter by the great news that the team from wingsofsupport.org have made a dream come true and agreed to provide brand new dining room furniture for our Child and Youth Centre In Khayelitsha. This fantastic news comes on top of Monday’s stunning news that Charles Eijkelboom has agreed to do what it takes to get the money together so we can strip and totally redo the 27 year old dormitories at the Intake shelter. The joy of today continued because though the office was a happy space with lots going on I did managed to finish off some work early and decided to sneak over to the Intake Shelter and spend a very happy hour in the sun hanging out with the kids outside the centre, chatting away with the Homeless people who live on the opposite side of the street from us and enjoying the sun and each others company. I suppose I remain a street fieldworker at heart and miss those days of working on the street. The day then ended with Charmaine and I sitting on deck of the Royal Cape Yacht club, drink in hand overlooking the water with a perfect view of the harbour, boats and setting sun and planning away with Harry, Robert and Graeme from the RCYC sailing Academy who have so generously invited the Homestead boys to join their programme. sailingacademy.rcyc.co.za Yes it was a happening day at the Homestead and we are so humbled by all your continued generosity and support that makes our work possible and that enables us to continually strive to deepen our services so that children in our care reach for the stars. Thanks everyone for a really great day and sorry I was having so much fun I forgot to take pics
