AQUAPONICS MEETUP and GMO-FREE EDUCATIONAL EVENT: What: September 2013 General Meeting When: Tuesday, September 3, 2013 6:30 PM Where: University of Arizona Controlled Environment Agriculture Center SmartClassroom 1951 E Roger Rd Tucson, AZ 85719 “The Unhealthy Truth about GMOs Hidden in Our Food” Come learn the basics about GMOs, the health risks associated with eating them, and why we must individually and collectively avoid them to protect the integrity of our food. GMO-free Educator & Speaker Melissa Diane Smith (melissadianesmith/) will present a short film “Hidden Dangers in Kids’ Meals,” that gives a good overview about GMOs and why they are a cause for concern, and then will provide more recent information and explain how to avoid genetically modified foods right now, even though the U.S. is one of the few countries that still does not label them. The question and answer session will allow for more information about specific concerns. Agenda: Intro to Aquaponics for Newcomers: 6:30 - 7:00PM.
