…ASUU has probably found a willing took in the presidency to use to correct all the problems of neglect in the educational sector. It seems though that the demands are no more ordinary as the volumes of money being discussed could transform the “neglected” universities into heavens on earth overnight and before anyone could resume work…but as Nigerians we take exceptions to foul talks like “Jonathan has no right to re-open schools” coming from ASUU…that’s the c-in-c’s office and we would be reminded that…of course he does have the right as the final employer…so ASUU should tred softly softly with the presidency and speak politely…for our info…strike is an illegality, and unless an employer was playing along with you as a patron…it remains an illegality… …it does seem too that politicians have taken over the strike, probably now paying ASUU to boast aloud over them ability to continue even if salaries were stopped…the same way some people are funding Boko Haram, the same evil has infiltrated the ranks of the teachers, and they are now the masters, talking tough… …people should have second look at the position of the non academic staff unions in the schools. I agree with them that it is most likely that the tones of money being demanded by ASUU could cause another crisis of confidence if released, if ASUU was bothered about them own welfare as workers then the talks are perfectly okay but to now join issues talking about capital development issues, keeping the schools closed for months means there is more to it… …we have had far less academic presidents in Nigeria that have also done similar negotiations with ASUU and ASUU did not put up this kind of vicious fight and would dare not use such foul language on the president as him “not having right to open re-open the schools” we see this as part of them new bid to becoming the prefect master type servants… …no capital project issues should form any part of ASUU concerns at this point in time. We want the schools re-opened and our children sent back to school. This because, those issues are on-going long term development issues such that it is not giving ASUU such whopping monies that will solve the matter over night and maybe because it is Jonathan, every dick tom and harry wants fire brigade solutions to these lingering issues in our schools. It falls within the function of the ministry of education to attend to these capital projects and infrastructural issues at our tertiary institutions such that all monies voted should be properly channeled to the Ministry of education in order not to precipitate another crisis of confidence that the non academic staff have warned us all about…as ASUU would see itself as the one that fought for it…but Govt does not owe ASUU shishi as owner of these schools on such matters other than them welfare if they worked in the first instance and if ASUU meant well, they would channel these infrastructural reports properly throu the university administrative set up to the Ministry of education…school by school they should do this…annually, monthly even weekly if they like. You need good laboratories, ASUU has to go insult the visitor to the schools at the presidency first before they can ask for it…it is a new trend in labour unionism in Nigerian and we reject it…All infrastructural development issues such as this should be the work of the ministry of education and not ASUU…there are serious signs that corruption is once again waiting at the end of the conduit pipe if the monies were not released to the supervising ministries properly…
