~~ AUSTRALIA DAY FORECAST FOR QLD ~~ Coastal Storms on the agenda, with the Heat lingering for SEQ. - A request to dot and like for newsfeed. Share/Tag to family and friends - Read carefully please, different things happening in different areas. A stabilising Air Mass is pushing across the Central/Southern QLD. A Surface Trough is running up from St George to Emerald, Townsville, Cairns, Georgetown and off the Gulf. Moisture is being pumped in towards the Trough, resulting in a build up of Instability and Storms likely along the Coast. SEQ/NENSW: • Storms possible anywhere throughout with them more likely closer to the Coast you get. • Some of these Storms could become Severe. Heavy Rain and Strong Winds are LIKELY in Storms. Damaging Winds and Hail/Large Hail are LIKELY in Severe Storms. Frequent Lightning is LIKELY • Storms expected to track to the East in general • A small area of convergence on the Gold Coast could make Storms stall a little and produce areas of Very Heavy Rain This comes after another ugly day with the Heat. Temperatures likely to reach the Mid 30s again across SEQ with Brisbane heading for 33/34ºc and Ipswich around 36ºc. Humidity will play another role, making it feel as much as 7ºc hotter at times (similar to today). Rest of QLD: • Storms possible anywhere along the Coast, with LIKELY Storms across Central QLD (Mackay to Townsville) and parts of the Capriconia • Some of these Storms are LIKELY to become Severe. • Heavy Rain and Damaging Winds are the highest risks. • Storms are expected to move N to NE due to Steering Winds • Frequent Lightning will play a role again, and should provide a Light Show well into the night.
