Abia seals off Imo transport firm park in Umuahia on July 09, 2013 at 10:08 pm in News UMUAHIA—ABIA State government has sealed off the loading bay of Imo Transport Company, ITC, in Umuahia, in retaliation to a similar action by its Imo State counterpart. It was not possible to ascertain at press time if Aba park of the company was also sealed off but it may be difficult to seal off Aba Park because as it is being shared by both Abia and Akwa Ibom Transport Corporations. ITC Umuahia park, located on Mission Hill area, was yesterday fenced off with corrugated iron sheets, an indication that the company may not return there, even when the face-off between the two states is resolved. The relationship between Abia and Imo State governments thawed last week as the former accused the latter of ejecting its transport company from its Owerri park without an alternative. Imo State, however, said it took the action to reclaim the master plan of the capital city but did not say why it did not provide the company an alternative place. It also said the ejection was not peculiar to Abia Transport, stressing that other transport companies operating from the No 5, Wetheral road park were also affected.
