#Afghanistan. After 13 years, Billions of dollars, 10, 000s of civilian lives lost, 1000s of military lives what do we have to show for progress? The Taliban are still a powerful force, Al Qeada remain a threat to western interests. A shaky civilian government still has little real control outside of Kabul. On the plus side, there are some new schools, hospitals, roads, there is overhauled but far from ideal banking system, in Kabul women play a bigger role in officialdom. But the Balance sheet is in the negative by all accounts. Western intervention hasnt worked. But left to its own devices Afghanistan would be a worse place, no?
