You may recognize the name and face from commercials supporting Mark Begich this campaign season although he is a registered #Republican, Mr. Whitaker was also a guest speaker at the 2008 DNC Convention. To hear what he had to say in support of Obama, click on the link - his speech is from hour 3:34:14 to 3:37:54. A transcript is here: I will be casting my vote for the candidate who possesses a keen intellect, a pragmatic idealism, and a realistic and resulting wisdom, which is sorely needed in America today. I will be casting my vote for Barack Obama. We Americans must have a foreign policy based on strength, and logic, and sound judgment. We will get that from Barack Obama. We Americans must have economic policies based on what is best for hard working American families, not special interest, not lobbyists, not just the very wealthy, but the vast majority of our people. We will get that from Barack Obama. We Americans must have an energy policy which leads us to energy independence and stability. We will get that from Barack Obama. This corner stone of our economic security and national security cannot be left to shifts and whims of the market place, which are subject to shifts and whims of hostile dictators. Americas energy policy must be based on self-reliance and the resources we have right here at home -- from domestically produced natural gas, including liquified natural gas from Alaska, to bio-mass, to wind and solar.. renewable, alternative energy sources... American energy sources. In the end, Im here because I know the change we need requires a leader with steely resolve -- steely resolve -- and a powerful vision for our future and a passion for helping working people. The man you will nominate tomorrow is the leader: Americas next president -- Americas next great president -- Barack Obama Thank you. - Jim Whitaker
