***Alderman Moreno confronts Chicago Housing Authority on key issues at Lathrop Homes*** On Tuesday (October 21, 2014), Alderman Joe Moreno (1st) addressed the Chicago Housing Authoritys Board of Commissioners, confronting the CHA on several key issues at the Lathrop Homes, the public housing development located at Diversey, Damen and Clybourn. The CHA essentially left the low-rise development in limbo from 1999 through 2009. Today, Alderman Moreno is frustrated that CHA continues to delay the negotiation of an agreement protecting the current residents during the revitalization of Lathrop, and also frustrated that CHA has not responded to his call for several key changes in the Master Plan for the development. I come here extremely frustrated and extremely angry, but Im also extremely determined and so are all these residents. We have not made any progress at Lathrop Homes, Moreno said. Moreno blasted the CHA for not keeping its promise, made six months ago in his presence, to negotiate a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that would put in writing basic protections for Lathrops current residents.
