“Allora-Clifton Wattles Juniors 2014 Junior Achievers Recognised” Wattles Junior Rugby League Club celebrated their 2014 season at their gala presentation afternoon at Clifton’s Platz Oval on Sunday, players and officials recognised for what has been considered a very successful season. Club President Ian Brady delivered his annual report, acknowledging the success of season 2014 as a great year for the club, and thanking all who contributed, especially the many volunteers and 125 players. In a significant step forward this season Wattles Juniors achieved a second field that was opened earlier this year, that will be utilised at all future home games. A goal of the club for 2015 will be to develop more First Aid Officers to aid in the safety of young players, with parents being encouraged to undertake FAO tuition & training. Mr Brady praised his club’s volunteers, particularly Club Secretary Leeanne Eastwell, Treasurer/Registrar Debbie Meddleton, FAO Angel Van Der Poel, trainee FAO Katey Willett, Vice Presidents Paul Duggan and Grant Lollback along with Ground Announcer Boxer Byrne, Game Day setup George Gall and the ladies of the canteen Kellie Brady and Anna Marks plus the many other parents and children contributing behind the scenes. Team coaches Shane Wright, Chris Robson, Dane King, Chris Carey Kel Strange, Peter Cavanagh, Roy Nott and Grant Lollback and their staff was also recognised for their loyal dedication across the season. Wattles Juniors Under 11 side contested the Warwick & District Junior Rugby League Grand Final going down to Warwick’s Collegians in extra time, while the Under 12 & Under 14 teams also qualified for the semi-finals. A presentation was made to Wattles senior & junior stalwart and Life Member Peter Cavanagh in recognition of fifty years of service to junior rugby league in the Central Downs area.
