(An in-boxed Question from a Facebook Friend this morning) Name undisclosed. Would it be wrong for me to pray that God would take my life? I am tired of living, because no one cares for me,including God.My ex-husband abused me mentally and physically for years, and I feel worthless and useless.I yearn to be happy, but I know now it will never happen. A RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION My dear friend I understand your pains, but Yes, it would be wrong for you to ask God to take your life because He wants to help you discover there can be happiness and joy in life for you,if you will turn to Him. You have been painfully scarred emotionally by your past and God knows that and understands your feelings. Those experiences have taught you to believe that you are worthless and no one cares but they have not told you the truth !!! In spite of what has happened to you,God loves you and you are very important in His eyes. Although elsewhere in your inbox message you indicated you have never given much thought to God,you have never been far from His thoughts, and He has a plan for your life.My dear friend,God says in His Word, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me,and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ( Jer 29:11-13) My beloved friend, you can accept Gods love by inviting Jesus Christ to come into your life. You can do this by a simple prayer, telling God you know you need Him and that you want to turn your life over to Him. You might also consider getting into a Christian Support Group for abused Women ( ARISE & SHINE Battered Women Widows & Children provides such services and referral services and our partner Organization Children of Domestic Violence(CDV ) among others. Then take time each day to read the Bible to discover how much God loves you. This is love:not that we loved God,but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10). Knowing God cares will make all the difference. Jesus Loves You and so we do! Your Sister Christy.
