“An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning will not be blessed at the end,” (Pr. 20:21). Easy come, easy go. We don’t value that for which we need not invest our effort. This proverb seems to be aimed most directly at benefactors or parents. There is parenting wisdom here. The quick gain, the easy acquisition requiring little investment will not be valued, will not be blessed and may in fact lead to unhappiness. If you have riches to leave behind when you die make wise plans regarding the amounts to be “quickly gained” by offspring who could be harmed rather than blessed by it. Remember Who blessed you with that income. Direct a goodly amount to the benefit of God’s kingdom.
