...And I Totally Lost Interest - Part 2 Good morning ladies and gentlemen. A very close online friend of mine Abidemi Babaolowo Oderinlo forced me by his comment to write again on the reasons why I totally lost interest. Just as I said yesterday, please give me another 10 minutes again today out of your precious 1440 minutes in a day. Thank you In the Western part of this country, in one of the biggest city in Africa, something changed the destiny of a young boy for life; his father was arrested by a local government chairman for daring to repair a dilapidated road, he was simply accused of using his own money to repaire a bad road without seeking permission from the local government chairman. The man thought the chairman was joking, but before he could realise what has happened to him, he found himself in a Police net. He told the Police officers on duty that hes an asthmatic patient, thinking the Police will ask him to go if they know his health status, on the contrary, teargas was thrown at him and he inhaled enough quantity that sent him to the land of sin no more....he died. The maltreatment that led to the death of his father troubled the little boy so much but theres nothing, absolutely nothing he can do since the perpetrators are still the ones that control our legal system. In order to revenge his Fathers death, he became an armed robber, targetting mainly government officials and security agents, especially the Police. He became very popular among the downtroddens and the needy as he paid school fees, hospital bills, accommodation fees etc for the needy, meanwhile he is a torn in the flesh of our politicians and the Police. Though the Police were able to apprehend and subsequently killed him, but he will forever remain a hero among the downtroddens. Meanwhile in the same city lives another man; he has been feeding from the governments vineyard since he only can remember. Despite his educational deficiency, he installs and dethrones governors at will, the state resources belong to him and only him decide what other looters take home. It got to a point he himself think its a normal and generally acceptable thing to do, and during one of his show of power when he removed a whole state governor and he was interviewed, this was what he said; He collected N300 Million Naira, Im I not entitled to 40%?. Shocking, but its true. One person collect as high as 40% of a whole state allocation! Meanwhile out of the remaining 60%, the governor too will reap from his labour, and other miscellaneous entities will also lick fingers, then maybe some paltry 3% will now be left to develop the state. Though the two characters are dead now; one is Oloosa Oko, the other is Oloosa Molete, but Oloosa Oko will forever be seen by the government as a notorious armed robber while the Oloosa Molete will forever be remembered by the same government as an erudite politician. Are you pondering what Im pondering? Not too long ago, in the Mid-Northern part of the country, a man was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing a ram. According to what we heard, the man actually sold the ram to pay for WAEC fee of his son. Despite all the pleads and supplications, the learned judge was adamant, saying this should serve as a deterrent to others. Meanwhile in one of the South-South States, a sitting governor was arrested for stealing money runing into Billions of Naira, till today, how a man became a woman without corrective surgery still baffles me. A whole governor was seeing dressing in a fitted jumpsuit and a fine high heel with a D&G Hand bag to match, he did all these to escape to another country. Less than five years of his asylum, he came back to the country and he was given a presidential pardon. Today, he is contesting for a senatorial seat. What can you denote from this as a Nigerian? Just last year, in the Northern part of the country, more than 200 female students were abducted, voice was raised, protest was made, Twitter and Facebook accounts were created for the struggle, parents were crying, principal waka come, international community condemned it etc. Till today, no trace, no arrest, no enquiries, no good news about them, no assurance that they will come back, nothing! Meanwhile during that same period, in the Eastern part of the country, an aged mother of a minister was abducted, more than 200 military personnel were deployed, and within 48 hours, the old woman regained her freedom! Fellow Nigerians, any observation? For God so loved Nigeria that He gave us mineral and human resources in abundant, that we should use them well in order to better our lives and be a positive reference point to other countries. But satan was strolling and God becokoned on him and asked him where he was going and he said he was moving up and down the surface of the earth. Satan also saw Nigeria and see that she was beautiful and he begged God to allow him to test Nigeria, and God permitted him; Only test you can test them, but dont scatter them. says the Lord. So Satan agreed, and ever since then, he has been tormenting us with bad leadership. Irrespective of party, ethnic, educational background and religion, we have been having issues with leadership; the amount our leaders have wasted since 1960 can build another new Nigeria from scratch, the unclaimed amount in different foreign accounts can take care of our budget for the next 20 years. No foreigner can do to us half of what our leaders have done to us. Our laws are very weak for the strong and very strong for the weak. Our politicians capitalized on the poverty level of their people by mortaging the destiny of many for just one bag of rice and a sachet of salt. The same God we ask to help us from our leaders is the same One we ask to protect them. Things are deteriorating at a geometrical rate and Im helpless! Lots to write but time is not my friend. Ladies and gentlemen, once again, this article is not to conclude, not to indict and not to judge. It is simply to let you know the thoughts that have changed my perception, and the reason why I totally lost interest. Reasonable people, good morning. Have a wonderful weekend.
