“And take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Eph. 6:17) SWORD TIPS #104 (March 20, 2014) The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them? (Jeremiah 8:9) Scholars, educators, diplomats, political leaders, heads of state and even entertainers, to name a few. All these and more are viewed by many people as the wise ones of our day. But, these rarely possess true wisdom, because like their counterparts in the days of Jeremiah, they have rejected the word of the Lord. Their wisdom is of their own making – “the dictates of their own hearts” – instead of the word of God. In whose wisdom will you trust today? Do you rely on the wisdom that comes from men or the wisdom that comes from God? God’s wisdom, revealed in the Bible, exposes the shame and futility of those who foolishly forsake God’s word. Be wise and receive the word of the Lord. Shame and folly await you when you reject God’s word.
