“And the Sons of the Prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy Master from thy head today…”. (2 Kings 2 vs 3). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today. As we continue with our meditation on the Journey of Elijah and Elisha, it is important to take a look at the sons of the Prophet in Bethel. These trainee prophets were in a particular place that was called the ‘House of God’;they understood the office of the Prophet, they knew that Elijah was on his way out,it was a season of Prophetic transition. Notice that unlike Elisha who understood God’s Purpose and followed Elijah, these trainee Prophets didn’t bother to seek a part of Elijah’s anointing. They had no desire to be a part of it. They were in Bethel, that is ‘House of God’,and were familiar with the things of God, but they didn’t get involved in what God was doing. They were in the House of God but didn’t maximise the moment. Friend, it is not enough to be in the House of God; be a part of what God is doing. Know and understand God’s Purpose for your life. Never lose sight of the move and direction of the Holyspirit in every season of your life. Don’t watch other people make spiritual progress while you remain at a spot. Reach out for more of God. Deepen your hunger and thirst for God. Go beyond being a regular christian; let your life be an evidence that you indeed have a relationship with God. When your familiarity with God robs you of a fresh desire for a deeper communion and deeper experience with God, be careful,you are on the highway to stagnation and retrogression. Don’t be counted among those who are familiar with the things of God but have no depth. Pray with me,”Lord, make me a part of what You are doing in this season in Jesus name”. Have a Blessed Sunday!
