...........And the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign. Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mothers name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done. Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD. Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah. And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead...........2 Kings 15:31-38........... Lesson: Pekah ruled Israel for twenty years and was killed by coup plotted by Hoshea........Jotham the son of Uzziah the king of Judah was twenty-five when he began to reign in twentieth year of Pekahs before he was murdered......... It was recorded about him that he did all that was right in the sight of the Lord according to all that his father had done........ Is 1:17………. Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. ……….. What a lesson.......Lets be conscious at all times to always do good because the younger ones are watching and learning from our actions and deeds....... We were told he built up the higher gate of the house of the Lord but the high places were not removed and the people still sacrificed unto idols........ His record would have been very awesome if he had destroyed all the high places in land…….. Lev 26:30………. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you……………. It’s a warning to us at this time even when it seems we are doing God’s will....let not leave or give the high places any breathing space………Lets destroy them..... High places might mean so many things to different individuals not just physical idols anything that takes the place and priority of God from our life must be destroyed..... During the period of Jotham, Syria became a treat to Judah.......Jotham died after sixteen years of his reign over Israel and his son Ahaz began to reign......... Prayer: O Lord help us to lay godly foundations and examples for generations to follow after.......in Jesus name......Amen.
