+ Another great article that I found on Reece Harley - Councillor, City of Perths wall. This article in The West Australian sees Mayor Brad Pettitt quoted as saying that should Perth continue with its current rates of growth and car ownership it will need parking areas the equivalent of twice paving the entire suburbs of Mosman Park, Peppermint Grove, Claremont, Cottesloe, Ned-lands, Subiaco, West Perth and Perth over the next 25 years. These parking facilities would come at a cost of over $4 billion every year for the next 25-30 years. It would be cheaper to build two MAX light rail lines every year. Curtin Universitys sustainability expert Peter Newman said that despite Dr Pettitts dire predictions, his assumptions about extra cars and needed parking bays were actually very conservative. This should be a major wake up call to all of our councils, many of who have not yet seen the light on the massive cost of motor vehicle infrastructure and of how motor vehicle traffic is choking our cities. https://au.news.yahoo/thewest/wa/a/26022227/parking-will-cover-perth-in-concrete/
