“Any and all successful horsemanship contains elements of Equine - TopicsExpress

“Any and all successful horsemanship contains elements of Equine Facilitated Learning. The human needs to learn how to be and bring their best forward to the horse is such a way as to develop trust between these two different species. In the case of an actual therapy session, the horses involved need to be able to trust the human handler to a large degree to allow for good cooperation and collaboration between the two. This will obviously optimize the benefits for the client. When a facilitator initially considers the trust they are able to develop with the therapy horse and understands what is required from them to develop this trust all will definitely go better for all participants, humans and equines. Thus, it can be easily understood why learning about ourselves via noticing and responding to the responses of the horses to our communications (requests) and what it takes for us to be able to provide appropriate and precise requests is vital to successful and effective EFL. Humans should always be ‘listening’ to their horses and learning about themselves at the same time. Learning how to be the best we can with our horses helps us in functioning at a higher level all the time.” Franklin Levinson AEFL Patron
