“Are we now so starved for exposure that we are willing to be - TopicsExpress

“Are we now so starved for exposure that we are willing to be portrayed as almost anything?” In the picture that’s bigger than “well, at least it opens a conversation,” think about what’s happening to Christianity according to the rules and roles of history. We have seen a recent increase of TV productions and movies portraying people of faith: Noah, now, Moses, the History Channel’s, The Bible Stories, Bible Secrets Revealed, The Real Face of Jesus, and the upcoming, Revelation, the End of Days. Usually, the day after, a week after, there is some chatter that allows for clarification by those who are clear on what the Bible actually says – but then the real damage begins to set in. We call them reruns. Seemingly accepted, authoritatively delivered, repetitious-reruns to unassuming secondary generations carry an inaccurate message into the minds of those of those who are seeking truth and have no day-after interpreter. The role of history is to tell a story over and over to cement it into the minds of men and, hopefully, to offer up its lessons to those wanting to avoid its mistakes. If you tell the original story accurately, then history serves its role. If you tell it incorrectly, inaccurately, even deceptively, then history sets up its own “rule.” One of the rules of history is that if you tell a lie long enough, passionately enough, it will become the reigning truth. Future generations, electronically researching truth long after the “premieres,” will have skewed versions of God and the Bible that will not yield their rule to the real truth easily. Truth, especially Bible truth, revelations about God and His ways, His kingdom, His will for mankind (I’m still shuddering from the Noah download, or should say, dump-load) must be handled in line with His word… not with creative license… not with a little light and magic for good strong story lines and box office receipts. “We have been given this ministry of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit… therefore we cannot faint… we cannot handle the word of God deceitfully… we put it out there, as it is, so that every man can make his own decisions at the conscience level… so if our gospel is unaccepted it is only of those who will not believe…” Of course, we should continue to make our presentations of God’s word and ways to those who don’t believe… because what is hindering them from hearing and seeing truth today can change. It is one of the most honest aspects of our human lives that we are subject to change what can be! People, circumstances, events, maturity, boredom, curiosity, the enigma of a family member or friend who is all of a sudden living a new level of life, a high quality of life, exhibiting true joy, satisfaction and kindness… can initiate a search for truth to change on. But that quality of truth is important. And it shouldn’t be compromised to fit someones taste; it’s precisely those old tastes we’re all trying to get away from in our searches… and truth about God shouldn’t be changed to gain an audience; because in this case it can be a matter of life and death. “We are not as those who corrupt the word of God (and we shouldnt accept the corrupting of it), but with sincerity and in the presence of God, we speak of Christ!” There’s the devo thought for the day!
