Areal Flood Advisory Statement as of 6:08 PM EDT on June 28, 2014 The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued an * Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in... southwestern Marion County in northern Florida... * until 800 PM EDT * at 606 PM EDT Weather Service Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from slow moving thunderstorms will produce 1 to 3 inches of rainfall this evening and localized flooding will be possible in the Dunnellon vicinity and along the U.S. Highway 41 corridor in southwestern Marion County. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Excessive runoff from these storms will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways... streets and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks and streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground. Remember... turn around dont drown.
