“…As Toastmasters leaders, we have two objectives this year during our term of service. The first is to motivate and assist our clubs and members to achieve in the Distinguished Club, Area, Division and District programs. The second is to create a legacy of leadership. How will your club or district succeed once your term of service concludes? Are you building the future leaders of your club or district today? The successes you achieve today are short-lived if they do not last beyond your leadership term. To build this legacy of leadership, all you have to do is plant seeds. How does this happen? You plant seeds of encouragement with your fellow Toastmasters. You plant seeds of belief, support and faith. Help your fellow members realize the potential they do not yet see or believe for themselves. - Gary Schmidt, DTM Former International President in 2009 Another way of “planting seeds” is by being fully aware of the potential to discover a new Toastmaster Guest or better yet, to identify a potential new club where at least 20 new members can invest a small amount of money into Chartering a club! This could be at your office, in your church or synagogue, or at the college you or your son or daughter attend. Most of the District leads seem to be from Toastmasters International where someone has expressed an online interest. That is all well and good but what better spokesperson or recruiter than someone who is already working on their speaking opportunities as a member of the great District 48. Until the District 48 leadership finalizes the e-mail addresses to the new Area Governors and Division Governors you may reach me at JSimmsfun@yahoo. Soon after you can find me at [email protected] or [email protected] If you give us a lead I will keep you fully informed and include you in the process of demonstration meetings et. al. as your schedule permits! Let’s pass the Gift (Toastmasters) on! - Jim Simms New Club Extension Chair
