Videogames are expected to have a certain amount of content to be “a real game”, and asymmetry is often one of the ways that designers fulfill this quota, many times, unwittingly. I think we all have to take a serious self-assessment of the damage that living through the past 30 years has done to us. Especially since so many of us played Magic: The Gathering as kids.
