★★★ Atlanta Silverbacks striker Jaime Chavez stomped on the face of Colorado Rapids defender ★★★ Over in the United States on Tuesday, the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL pulled off a shock win over MLS club Colorado Rapids in the US Open Cup. Atlanta won the match 2-1, however the scoreline and giant-killing was only the second big storyline of the night, after an Atlanta striker stepped on the face of an opponent. Silverbacks forward Jaime Chavez, 26, stomped on the face of Rapids defender Drew Moor, and that started a massive brawl. As Rapids captain Moor received an inch-wide cut on his head, a fight broke out in which Rapids defender Marc Burch took a swing at Chavez. Atlanta eventually had three men sent off from the incident – Chavez, Kwadwo Poku and Borfor Carr, while Silverbacks coach Eric Wynalda and his Colorado counterpart, Pablo Mastroeni, were also sent off for leaving their technical areas.
