~Autumn Winds~ Friendly autumn winds blowing through the trees Touching many branches with a balmy breeze Seeking out each lovely leaf that is to be found Nudging it and waiting ‘til it falls to the ground. Autumn winds moving ‘round the corners of the house Creeping down the chimney, stealthy as a mouse Sometimes rattling window panes and making eerie cries – I don’t think that it sounds weird, even if it tries. If the doors are open and the day is very mild It makes me think of happy times when I was a child Of seeing curtains waving and dancing gracefully My mom’s clean, white lace curtains she had hung so carefully. Playful autumn winds love to scatter fallen leaves What fun it is to hear them crunching ‘neath our feet Then it throws them in the air as it goes on by – Does the wind think it can toss them to the sky? Many scents of autumn really are unique Autumn winds take part in this - I think that it is neat The wind runs ‘round and tries to find a dandelion head To blow off and embarrass when the poor old plant is dead! Far out in the ocean autumn winds speak angrily Pouncing on the ships that can’t shelter in the lee Frightening many people on the sea and on the land Causing great destruction, stirring up the sand. I love the autumn breezes but not the hurricanes Even though they often have pretty-sounding names So many things in life I do not understand But I know my heavenly Father is working His wise plan. The Bible tells of stormy winds that fulfill God’s word I give Him thanks for it when thunder –claps occur I ask Him for protection when winds are so severe I can trust Him for it – He is always near. And He does control them, winds and waves obey His will He only has to speak to them, saying “Peace, be still” May I never fear the storms – they’re working for my good Lord, help me to believe this; I know I always should. By Jane Bradfield Scripture references: “… stormy wind fulfilling his word” (Psalm 148:8 KJV). “… lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20 KJV). “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 KJV). “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 KJV).
