" Ayas" The evening star !! It is the star that shines so brightly in the western sky, just above the rim of the earth as the sun is setting..In a clear evening it hangs suspended in the twilight like a jewel...so close and seemingly so friendly, little children in a bygone era would reach out and try to grasp it before the night swallowed it up !! The old ones would say that it is a bead on a garment of the great spirit as he strolls through the evening of the garden of the heavens...Ayas is the name given to it ..legend has it that he gave his life for his peoples survival and his spirit was flung into the heavens to be forever remembered by the cree...Im sure the Eastcoast tribes have their versions as well...but this is ours...! anyway have a good evening and be well !!!!!
