BALLET LESSONS: Carrying on a Russian tradition, in Brooklyn. - The New York Times About BBT | The School of Russian American Ballet The School of Russian American Ballet was established in 1987 as a not-for profit organization and held its first class with just five students in a tiny studio. Oh, how times have changed since then. Today, the Brooklyn-based ballet center–located on the campus of Kingsborough Community College–employs teachers trained in the famed Vaganova methods. Teachers passionately share their knowledge and talents with beginners as well as advanced dancers of all ages and backgrounds, and give students an opportunity to perform full-scale ballets with costumes and scenery.
