$BBRY - Earning Report is due on Friday 3/28/2014 before market open. It has already been over-load with bad news from WSJ, SA, and many other bearish blogs. I stop reading after the headline and go straight to the comment section on the article. The reason...there is nothing new or bad news about BBRY, same old information Ive digested few years ago. But, the comments are more entertaining to read then the article itself. And still...the people whose opinion about BBRY has not change much and they still get stuck on the same old mentality few years back. Does anybody realize BBRY is not just a device maker but a host of other businesses as well? QNX, BBM, MDM just to name a few. If anyone still gets the hang-ups about device competitiveness and trying to compare BBRY with Apple, Samsung and whatever...may I remind you that BBRY business model has been diversify. The device manufacturing already a separate entity and it is managed by an outside company. BBRY is no longer bleeding from the handset business but it is focus on what matter the most in the mobility space. Mobility + Security = MDM. Master Data Management is on a critical path and its has becomes a policy that is vital to the enterprise mobility management system. There are many start-up MDM providers out there but very few have track records that are trust worthy. Even though these MDM providers were backed by the deep pocket Venture Capitalists but to become a trusted data management & security provider over night is not an easy task. Trust is often produces liars because the trust of the innocent is the liars most useful tool. Trust, is track records accumulated over time, its not something you can buy with venture capital. Just MDM alone is worth more than the value of whatsApp was purchased for. QNX is set to dominate the Auto Infotainment space. That alone is “huge” and I am not even getting into the details. On the other hand, BBM, FB, Viber and other players in the mobile space are set to disrupt the pay to talk industry. It’s rattling and unsettling to the mobile carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T and others. As a matter of fact, those fears had surfaced recently…if it serves my memory well. T-Mobiles aggressive and unapologetic marketing strategy tries to destroy BBRY. Now, how often you see a phone retailer is trying to destroy the phone manufacturer? Not very often…is like trying to hurt the hand that feeds you. For whatever the reason that motivates T-Mobile to do such thing is obvious and not hard to figure it out. T-Mobile has to protects it infrastructure investment. AT&T & Verizon on the other hand, has already looking into another business opportunity such as home security monitoring business and that is a tell-tale sign of the pay to talk business is destines to be obsolete. FB, Space X and others are planning to enter a new frontier of mobility with internet connect for everyone, there is no need to use a phone number to make a phone call, video chat or text msg. All you need is an email address to connect and email is free from Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and the whole bunch. As for the concern of mobile security, Apple iOS or Android still has a long way to go.
