~~ BIG DAY OF WEATHER TOMORROW, WITH STORMS AND HEAVY RAIN DOMINATING THE EAST ~~ First things first. We have a Low which is moving into Bass Strait tomorrow. This is the same low which has delivered some of the best rain in decades for South Australia, and its expected to dump Heavy Rain over Northern Tasmania and Victoria. • Heavy Falls should develop during the Morning across Western Victoria • Heavy Falls should reach Melbourne and Central Districts throughout the middle of the day • Consistent Rain is expected across Northern Tasmania, with it becoming gradually Heavier throughout the afternoon as the Low tracks towards across the Strait. • Widespread falls between 25 and 50mm are expected. Areas across NE Tasmania and probably SE Victoria too may see falls of up to 75mm • Heavy Rain should head down towards Hobart in the early hours of Wednesday Morning. • Flash Flooding isnt out of the question. Although the area hasnt seen a whole lot of Rain for a while, so there should be a bit of give. Next, Storms... A Trough is extending North from the Bass Strait Low, towards a Low in the Gulf of Carpentaria. This is likely to build Instability across both Northern Victoria, Central/Western NSW and Western/Southern QLD. High Moisture Levels created from the Trough drawing out of the Gulf and Bass Strait will increase the likelihood of Heavy Rain and also slow down the Storms movement. • Storms are likely along this Trough, with a threat of some Storms becoming Severe • Areas of possible Severe Storms include: SW VIC (SW of Geelong), NW NSW/SW QLD (around the Border), NW QLD (around Mount Isa) • General Storms could occur outside of these areas also. • Heavy Rain is the main threat for these Storms and Flash Flooding is a possibility in association to the Heavy Rain, with a chance of some Isolated Damaging Winds. • Storms are expected to head SE in Victoria, East in NW NSW/SW QLD and West over NW QLD thanks to Steering Winds Images via BSCH: • Storm Probability (Red - Possibly Severe, Orange - Likely Storms) • Instability (Dark Blue/Purple = Strong chance of Storms) • 24hr Rainfall via OCF showing Heavy Rain across VIC and TAS Tags: Higgins Storm Chasing, Johns Weather Channel - JWC, Victorian Storm Chasers, Tasmanian Storm Chasers, ABC Western Queensland, Southern NSW Storm Chasing, New South Wales Storm Chasers
