^~^ BLIZZARD: A RECIPE FOR DISASTER FOR ANIMALS FULL EFFECT OF THIS STORM BEGINS 9/10PM ON 1-26-15 AND WILL LAST 12 LONG HOURS. ..... HIGH WINDS, GUSTS CAN BE UP TO 65MPH, HEAVY, RAPID SNOWFALL IN EXCESS OF 18-24 +/-, HIGHER SNOW DRIFTS, ROLLING THUNDER, BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES, WHITEOUT CONDITIONS--LIFE THREATENING TO YOU AND YOUR PET! ***Keep your pets safe!*** PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR PET OUT UNSUPERVISED AND KEEP THEM LEASHED WHEN THEY NEED TO USE THE OUTDOOR FACILITIES. DO NOT ENDANGER YOURSELF BY STEPPING OUTSIDE IN THE STORM...TRY TO STAY INSIDE YOUR DOORWAY AND EXTEND THE LEASH ENOUGH FOR THEM TO GO AND QUICKLY COME BACK IN IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT. DO NOT GO OUT OR LET YOUR PET OUT DURING THE BRUNT OF THIS STORM. PET OWNERS MAY HAVE TO IMPROVISE DURING THIS STORM..... CAN THEY GO IN THE GARAGE? ***If its too dangerous for you, its too dangerous for your PET!*** Expect your pet to act out of character and do not underestimate their ESCAPE ABILITIES please! Pets sense storms and bad weather way before it arrives. Your dog or cat may be frightened already if they are sensitive. Keep in mind that packed snow in drifts along fences, on top of lawn furniture, firewood, can make it very simple for your dog to jump over your fence. (Animals cannot use their sense of smell in the snow, especially as it continues to come down.) Heavy snow will compromise your fences. High winds will compromise your fences. Watch for falling wires and tree limbs. Survey the area visually. ***FROSTBITE!** Once your pet comes inside, please towel off any excess snow between toes and that may be stuck on thier coats. Owners of dogs like a Shih Tzu or a Bichon know what we mean as snow actually gets stuck on their coats on bellies and legs. It doesnt take long for frostbite to set in. ALL PETS MUST BE SPORTING A COLLAR AND TAGS AND SHOULD HOPEFULLY HAVE REGISTERED MICROCHIPS! ***KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!*** Please be safe everyone and keep the lost animals, and those creully kept outside in your thoughts and prayers. If you see an animal purposely being kept outdoors, contact your local police precinct immediately. Be the one that cares and makes the call, do NOT assume someone else will. If you happen to see a stray, offer them a safe haven to ride outnthe weather please.
