*** BREAKING NEWS *** An incident occurred this morning on Mount Cook where a helicopter carrying six people crashed onto its side on a large rock near the summit. Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott was one of the passengers. All on board survived with some sustaining minor injuries. Rescue crews are assisting with transporting the passengers down the mountain. Cook Shire Council wishes all involved a speedy recovery and thanks local rescue workers for their efforts in getting everyone to safety.
