** BRIDE QUESTION ** Good morning! Im hoping you guys can help me with this. So, before I even met my now fiance, I decided that if I was to get married, I would keep my last name. My father passed away 8 years ago and I feel as though my family name is a connection that I still have to him. My fiance has always known my feelings and has supported this decision. On the weekend we attended a family BBQ (with all his extended family), and the news that I was keeping my name seemed to be the hot topic! I have quite a generic last name, whereas he has a quite unusual name. By the end of the afternoon I was so tired of assuring people that if the family had a normal name I wouldnt change my mind. Explaining about my father all the time just seemed to make me feel more upset! Im now beginning to think I should just do it to keep the peace and for my own emotional sanity. I was also thinking about the invitations, thank you notes etc...how do I let people know not to write their cards to MR & MRS?? Is anyone else planning on keeping their maiden name? Or if I take my fiances last name, how else can I honour my late father at the wedding? Any advice would be much appreciated! Have a lovely day. Thanks, Jess
