(BTW, this is really me and not an autopost or ad - Ill say maltomeal to prove it) I thought Id pass along a tip that most people end up really liking once they realize its power. I often find myself away from home wishing I was in front of my computer. I have programs loaded there that would solve some problem at hand, but alas - Im not at home! For the last five years or so I have been using a program called Teamviewer. It is free for private use and can be used on any internet connected computer, tablet, or smart phone. I can sit in front of my home computer from virtually anywhere. This isnt just about having access to my files, its about being able to use Photoshop, Animator, Office, or any other program on my desktop. When finished creating a document, I can then transfer it to wherever I am to print or use. It is also great for helping my friends when their computer breaks. I can log on from my house as if I were at their house and fix away. It has two means of access - one is a temporary auto-generated password and the other is a permanent password. You give the one-time password to someone who you want to show something to or have help you out, but dont want to have get back in after the session is over. You keep the permanent password for yourself to get in any time you want to. Its easy to install, works well, and even has stuff like chat, video, etc. I often use mine just to peek in the house when I am on vacation, complete with video and sound.
