#BathingWithSaltWater :Another Magical Cure to Ebola Virus Disease? Ive received several calls from people asking if drinking or bathing with salt water can prevent or cure Ebola Virus Disease. In fact, my home-girlfriend told me that a doctor attached to the Uzere Cottage Hospital has confirmed the arrival of the dreaded Ebola Virus in my hometown and has thus ask all citizen to drink and bath with salt water this morning. Make owna no kill my grandmama with dehydration and hypertension oh! Methinks salt cannot provide any form of protection as the virus can be carried by sweat which we all know is saturated with salt. Bathing with salt removes water from inside of the body. When you bath with salt water, the salt migrates inside of your body and water travels to the outside in the process of Electro-osmo-diffusion . Depending on the concentration of salt in the water, viz-a-viz the body salt concentration, it can lead to electrolyte imbalances. People suffering from hypertension, diabetes and anorexia nervosa are at especially high risk for an electrolyte imbalance. So, what can you do to prevent yourself from contacting the Ebola disease? Ebola virus does not spread through the air. You get it from direct contact with an infected persons bodily fluids such as blood, sweat, vomit, feces, or semen. The virus is aggressively infectious, but very fragile: it is thermolabile and susceptible to household disinfectants such as sodium hypochlorite(bleach) and phenolic disinfectant. Summary: No need to drink or bath with salt water which may have some health consequences. Common-sense hygiene can do the magic: Avoid contact with bodily fluids of people infected with the virus already showing symptoms and bath/wash your hands with disinfectant/soap.
