(Be Still and Know) Today, I have to attend a meeting at my sons school, because the teachers are frustrated and are losing patience with him. Although he has a disability with an IEP in place, they are at the point where they do not care. So today my post is just as much for me as it is for anybody else who reads it. I ask that you keep us in prayer. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it can be difficult to trust Gods plan and timing, when you feel overwhelmed by your situation or the enormousness of your circumstances and when you dont know what the outcome will be. But this is when we must reflect on the words found in Psalm 46:10 that say, Be still and know that I am God. When you break it all down: The first word in the Psalm instructs us to Be which is an intransitive verb, meaning an action word that expresses a doable activity, The second word in this Psalm is still which means calm, unmoving, quietude. So when we break it all down, we can conclude that is is completely doable to act in a calm, unmovable manner when we are faced with situations that test our faith and that are outside of our control. The third word in the Psalm is and which is a conjunction. Now, the function of a conjunction is to join two separate phrases or clauses in order to express the complete thought. So we can safely say that although we are told to be still, it is not complete without the second part of the sentence which states, know that I am God. This means that we are not expected to be still in our own power...but to Be still, in the knowledge, power and assurance of who God is, what God can do and how God will move in our lives if we trust God and apply our faith, even if we feel doubtful, at times. And for those that doubt from time to time, never forget that at the end of the day, doubting Thomas...still walked with Jesus. Today, whatever you are going through, whatever you are about to face, before you allow your emotions to get the best of you...take a moment and meditate on Psalm 46:10 and then open up your mouth and utter the words...Be still and know that I am God. Know that God is with you. .
