“Be a good Little Girl and be good to Mama for Dada’s Sake.” - TopicsExpress

“Be a good Little Girl and be good to Mama for Dada’s Sake.” So reads a letter home from Canadian soldier Edward Iley dated March 12th, 1918. The letter, written on the wing fabric of a German aircraft his unit had shot down, was discovered by his great grandson Michael Hilton in an old box of family belongings. Along with the letter, Hilton found a pocket watch belonging to a German gunner. Both items will be on display in our upcoming exhibition Wild Rose Overseas: Albertans in the Great War. This exhibition Heritage exhibition focuses on Albertas experience in wartime and features over 300 artefacts including pieces of the Red Barons plane and rare audio interviews with veterans of the Great War. It opens Monday, 28 July.
