Humane Society Sues to Silence Maine Biologists and Game Wardens Faced with crashing poll numbers and lack of support for Question 1, The Bear Referendum, the Humane Society of the United States has triggered a last ditch effort to save their failing campaign by deploying some of their thirty Washington D. C. staff lawyers. It is a blatant attempt to silence the most informed and experienced bear experts in Maine. So desperate to win, they have reverted to delay tactics and frivolous lawsuits using lawyers from Washington to stop Maine people from hearing the truth from the most informed and experienced professional biologists and wardens in Maine. Losing the debate, absent any reasonable argument and void of any common sense, the HSUS has now decided to use their vast legal resources to try and gag our wildlife experts from giving their opinion on bear management in Maine. They paid $250,000.00 to a company out of California called PCI Consulting to hire professional non-residents as paid signature collectors, in violation of the state Constitution, to qualify for the ballot.
