Because I am not involved in enough controversies... This article says what Ive been saying for a long-time about Emilys List. It is important to recruit and elect more women to public office. But supporting a conservative women, just as long as they are pro-choice, over a man who is far more progressive across a broad range of issues, perhaps even womens rights, is a terrible and destructive model for moving the progressive cause forward. All things being close to equal, the fact that a candidate is female should legitimately be a deciding factor. But if there is a clear difference, the most progressive candidate should be supported, regardless of their gender.
