…Before your head hits the pillow… Is your life chaotic or in order? I have been impressed lately about the amazing order that exists within the being and creation of our God. When reading through Numbers I was impressed with the order He created for the travels of his people. He commanded their very movements, which tribe would camp in what area and in what order they would march when God lifted the cloud and led their travels. The instructions for the building and then movement of the Tabernacle were also filled with great order. He instructed each group of the Levites, telling them what part of the Tabernacle they should be responsible for. He had the group that carried the body of the Tabernacle at the beginning of the movement so that by the time those who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant and the most holy items arrived, the Tabernacle was set up and ready for placement in their designated locations. When God created the world, He created it with such order. There was no big explosion, no randomness. First God separated the light from the dark, and then He made the sky and the water, then the land and seas. Next He placed the sun, moon and stars. On the fifth day he created the birds and the fish to fill the sky and waters He had previously created. Then He created the land animals to fill the earth. And finally He creates man and woman to care for the earth and commune with God. God is indeed a God of order. He didn’t leave the animals without names, He asked Adam, the man He had created to name them. Once again we see God’s order. I Corinthians 14:33 says – For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace. Several months ago I posted a piece about the order in Mathematics and another about the order in science relating to the sound waves. God is the creator of EVERYTHING. He created the order that can be seen in the amazing symmetrical beauty of sound waves. He created order in the intricacies of mathematics. The genius of the discovery of mathematical equations and truths was not in the discovery but in the original Creator, God. Order’s opposite is chaos. Chaos came into existence only after the fall of man, only after sin came into this world. But God’s way is not a way of chaos but of order and peace. Peace and chaos cannot exist simultaneously. Either you are at peace or you are in chaos. Romans 5:1 states – Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. When we give our lives over to Christ, we find peace, we find order. Just think about how many people you know whose lives are in complete chaos. That chaos is present because of the absence of God in their lives. We all know people who are going through terrible times in their lives. They are burdened with great grief or overwhelming sickness, but their lives are still peaceful, still in order. Why? Because they are living within the will of God and God grants them order and peace. Paul writes in Romans 16:19-20 – For the report of your obedience has reached to all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Because of their obedience to God, God would not allow Satan to place disorder and chaos in their lives. So if your life is feeling chaotic, rest in the assurance that our God is a God of order and peace. He does not wish for you to live in chaos and restlessness. He wishes that you will rest in His peace. If things are chaotic in your life, take time to dwell in the Lord. Take time to rest in Him. Take time to learn more about the peace that He will bring into your life. Learn and live with God and you will live in peace.
