#BookBucketChallenge This is getting so interesting, I was nominated by Jay Srikanth and Sanjay to list out 10 books that have changed the way I think and made my life more meaningful! Here is the list, a slight change in the ranking tough 1. On the Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection - Charles Darwin : a classic, a work of a genius , so brilliantly written, poetic at times and a book about evolution with the word evolution mentioned just once. A book that said there is grandeur in this view of life 2. The Selfish gene - Richard Dawkins : already a classic 3. Dragons of Eden, Speculations on the evolution of human intelligence - Carl Sagan : Sagan introduces the cosmic calendar in this book and never did any book again made me feel so humble like this did! Contact is another brilliant book! 4. Life of Pi - Yan Martel : it was a brilliant book, read it after reading Goulds Rock of Ages, left me sleepless for several nights 5. The Tell Tale Brain - V.S.Ramachandran, a book that makes our three pound massive jelly in our head contemplate about itself contemplating about itself. 6. Richness of Life - Stephen Jay Gould , No one ever wrote or will write about Evolution like Gould did! 7. Jurassic park - Michael Crichton another classic, read it in 2006, twelve years after I watched the movie Jurassic Park (released in 1994 in india) Loved every page of it and here I am crazy about the bones and remains of long dead animals. 8. Animal days - Desmond Morris, read it during my first year in college, thought zoology is a boring not so funny subject, this book proved that I was so wrong 9. Kaval kottam - S.Venkatesan, a big thick book about the history of Madurai, just an hour from my town. A historical novel in tamil where ordinary people are the heroes and not the kings and queens. 10. Under a Lucky star - Roy Chapman Andrews , a book about : how to live an interesting life And i would be more than just happy to see what Debashish da, Mohammad Jalal Uddin da, Mahendranath, Martina, Matthew Moign , Yogesh , Bala, Soorya BoanergesArun K. Shanker Arun Kumar Aravindh lists as their top 10 favorite books.
