“But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.” (Esther 4:10-11). These words were spoken by Queen Esther to Mordecai. She was faced with a hard task of saving her generation from being wiped by Haman. She had to handle this issue wisely because two things were at stake (1) Her people, and (2) Her Marriage. The challenge was to find a way to keep both. So how was she going to go about it? It was already 30 days since she was called by the King. This makes me wonder; does it mean the King did not come to her chamber in those 30 days? If he did, couldn’t she wait for the night to talk to him? Just wondering aloud….. Hypothetically, let us assume the King had not gone to her chamber for those 30 days…… She would burn the candle till late in the night waiting for her husband, the king. She would prepare herself physically, mentally and emotionally for intimacy, hoping and trusting that her husband would come to her chamber. (Traditionally, the King did not sleep in the same room with the Queen. Every time he needed to be intimate with her, he would send word that he would visit her, and so he would go to her chamber later)……….. (But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.”) If this was the case then Esther as a woman, would have become bitter and enraged by the King’s lack of interest. Considering she knew she was beautiful. But Esther did the opposite. She chose to take the initiative to go and see her husband. She understood the protocol well and knew such a step could cost her life or marriage. Believing in the God you serve is something great! Esther understood so well that (Ephesians 6:12 –NIV -For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.); therefore she instructed all the Jews to fast for her. (Esther 4:15) On the 3rd day of the fast, Esther pulled herself together, put on her royal robes and walked to the King’s Chamber. What I love about Esther is that she understood true love is not self-seeking; to show her husband she cared, she needed to communicate to him through his love language. Her husband loved partying! What a way to please the King! (Esther 5:4). The rest is history… Esther preserved her marriage and her generation! Friends Marriage is a Ministry. (Ephesians 4:1-7 NIV) - 4 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 BUT TO EACH ONE OF US GRACE HAS BEEN GIVEN AS CHRIST APPORTIONED IT. Shalom. #thebibleinspiresme
