“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 Ever feel like you are stuck in a rut? The truth is that people are creatures of habit and life can become predictable and boring. People think they want change but many people also fear change. Jobs, homes, relationships, children and restaurants are just a few things that people stress about changing. Sometimes our lives need to be turned upside down in order to get us to change. Life does not wait for you to be ready for change and if you are waiting for the perfect time to make alterations in your life then your life just may pass you by. When is it appropriate for us to make changes in our lives? How do we know that we are making the right choices? It begins with God and Jesus Christ. You see, too many people keep their faith and their “lives” separate. Their faith does not come into focus when choosing a mate, a home, a job or most other important aspects of their lives that demand a choice. That is not how it is meant to be. You cannot be expected to nor be able to make proper choices for your life if you do not include the Lord in every choice you make. God should be the bottom line and Jesus should be the foundation of every piece of your life. Every choice should begin with God. The purpose of our lives is found in faith. That should be the main theme in all that we do. When we compartmentalize our existence we cannot hope to find contentment and assurance that our choices will be guided by faith. We are a society of separation. We keep our faith to ourselves and go to church on Sundays, sometimes. We have learned to limit our conversations about our beliefs so that we do not encourage arguments among ourselves. That leads us to limit our focus on God and Jesus to specific times and places. We have distanced ourselves from our Father and our Savior. When we come to recognize our need for the Lord, we begin to see the importance of including Him in all that we do. That is when our attitudes begin to change and that is when we can confidently embrace change in our lives. We begin to re-think our priorities and we begin to know the truth. When we are seeking God to guide our steps, we are becoming that new creature in Christ. Our lives should be grounded in our faith and reflect our devotion to the Cross. When we stop separating our faith from our daily existence is when we find rest in the Lord. God does not want you part time and He does not want you to live a life that is apart from Him. Seek to include God and Jesus in all that you do and your life will unfold in a direction that will lead you to peace and confidence. If change is something that is meant for you trust that the Lord will supply the way. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 Love That Cross, Pastor John Collins
