(C)-SportsRival on Dailymotion Red-hot Dondon Hontiveros scored 15 points in the fourth quarter – all on three-pointers – as he lifted Alaska into the championship round of the PBA Philippine Cup after a 79-76 victory over Rain or Shine in Game Six of their best-of-seven semifinal series on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena. Hontiveros finished with 17 points while Calvin Abueva added 15 points and nine rebounds as the Aces knocked out the Elasto Painters, 4-2. Alaska dominated the first half with its defense, holding Rain or Shine to 16 and 12 points in the first two periods, respectively. They will face the San Miguel Beermen in the finals. They Aces shackled their opponents late in the second quarter, leaving the Elasto Painters without a field goal over the last 5:10 as Alaska launched a 10-2 run to enter the halftime break leading 36-28. Rain or Shine quickly came back in the third, scoring nine of the first 12 points of the second half. They eventually took the lead back on a Jeff Chan triple and, after Calvin Abueva answered with a putback on the other end, Beau Belga knocked down another three for good measure. The Elasto Painters ended the third ahead, 60-56, after outscoring the Aces, 32-20, in the third. But Hontiveros caught fire in the fourth, knocking down five three-pointers, including back-to-back daggers at the 1:38 and 1:08 marks of the final period that turned a 76-73 deficit into a 79-76 lead heading into the last minute of the game. They held tight on defense to come away with the win in the end.
