(CALEB)...Overcoming the circumstances...., A former Egyptian slave, Caleb stands out as a model f or us in recovery because of his firm stand against the pressure of those around him. One of twelve scouts selected by Moses to explore the promised land of Canaan, Caleb felt certain the giants who lived there could be overcome. And he stuck by his conviction even when the fearful Israelites angrily disagreed. Seeing Calebs courage, God told Moses that Caleb possessed a different spirit, a spirit that believed God would help Israel conquer its enemies (Numbers 14:24). When Caleb finally walked into the land at 80 years of age, he took the territory where the giants lived. Confident in Gods promise to help him conquer them, Caleb totally drove the drove the giants out (Judges 1:20). By virtue of his different spirit he managed to overcome the low self-esteem of his former life as a slave - unlike some of the other former slaves who had less in defeating their enemies. Caleb also appeared to impart the same different spirit to his daughter, Acsah. When he gave her in marriage to the warrior Othniel, Caleb gave them the vast Negev region as their inheritance. Acsah, knowing that the area was a desert, boldly requested that he also give them the nearby springs of water (Judges 1: 12-15). Acsahs willingness to ask for what she needed resulted in a water supply for her family...... - Melinda Fish. Read Judges 1:1-20 Steps 11, 12 Prayer Time.......God, grant me that different spirit that takes hold of Gods promise of my recovery and the ability to pass it on to my children...Amen Pukana...... - Posterd by Michael Joseph Belmont.
